Dr. John Claxton is a founding member of Ch’nook and Professor Emeritus with the Sauder School of Business. As a faculty member at Sauder, John focused his teaching and research on the application of analytical tools to marketing and strategy formulation. In addition to his work at UBC, he has held visiting appointments  at London Business School, INSEAD, IEA-OECD, and Cranfield Institute of Technology, plus teaching assignments in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Dr Claxton worked with Professor Jo-ann Archibald (UBC First Nations House of Learning) to develop the initial proposal for the Ch’nook Indigenous Business Program, and subsequently became the Founding Director responsible for the initial years of program operations.  Currently, he is a member of the BC Aboriginal Business Awards Advisory Board, and Academic Program Advisor for the SFU EMBA in Aboriginal Business & Leadership. In addition, he holds the highly cherished position of “administrative assistant” for weekly meetings with his two grandsons.
