PM-Volunteers.org
PM-Volunteers.org (PM-V) creates opportunities for skilled project management professionals from a variety of industries and competencies to engage with not for profit organizations in a way that adds sustainable value to the community. The Canadian West Coast Chapter PMI operates the PM-Volunteers.org program in Mainland BC.
How PM-Volunteers.org works
Many not-for-profit community and charitable groups deliver their internal and external services as programs and projects. They are often similar in scope, complexity and risk to those found in the private and public sectors. Resource constraints within their client NFP’s, particularly a lack of skilled and professionally trained project management, increases project risk. Sometimes the project or program can not proceed.
PM-V volunteer project managers have provided multiple services to their NFP clients, including:
- Project Feasibility studies
- Business Analysis and Requirements gathering
- Project Initiation and Charter development
- Project Planning
- Project Risk Management planning
- Project Management skills training
- Project Management coaching/mentoring of NFP staff
- Project review/audits
- Post Project evaluation/Lessons Learned Sessions
Providing client NFP’s with a cost-effective source of skilled, trained and experienced project management resources enhances their ability to deliver projects on time, on budget, on scope, while minimizing risk. Learnings inform future projects and programs across the NFP organization.
